Be on the lookout for attempts at fraud

Unfortunately, there are various types of fraud attempts carried out in the name of the Riksbank. To raise public awareness of this, we would like to point out that the Riksbank never contacts the public with offers to make money and that we do not provide any banking services to private individuals.

Fraudsters may use various methods to try to deceive you – for example, fake emails, text messages, social media advertisements or phone calls in which they claim to represent the Riksbank. The Riksbank takes this type of fraud very seriously and therefore wishes to make it clear what you should be on the lookout for.

The attempted frauds may, for example, involve offers of investment opportunities or promises of easy ways to earn money. Please be aware that this is an attempt at fraud, and do not trust any offers of investment or financial advice purporting to come from the Riksbank. The Riksbank never contacts the public with offers to make money, and we do not provide any banking services to private individuals. We therefore recommend that you should not send money or provide bank and credit details to people who say that they represent the Riksbank or that they have an agreement with the Riksbank.

Abuse of the Riksbank’s name and logo

The Riksbank’s logo is protected and may not be used without permission. Nor may the name of the Riksbank be used in a misleading manner. Unfortunately, the Riksbank’s name and logo are sometimes misused by third parties in connection with various types of attempted fraudulent activity.

The Riksbank cannot be held liable where its name, logo or other information is used for fraudulent purposes.
