But economic activity is stronger and the supply shocks are continuing. The Executive Board therefore assesses that the policy rate should be raised more going forward than projected in the June forecast, for inflation to stabilise around 2 per cent. If the outlook for inflation and economic activity remains unchanged, it is expected that the increases to the policy rate will begin this year.

<a10:updated>2026-09-24T09:30:37+02:00</a10:updated>

The Riksbank’s Business Survey: “There was some concern before the summer, but then things took a turn for the better”

The economic situation has improved since last spring and, for the first time since September 2022, large Swedish companies’ assessment of the situation is now above its historical average. Before the summer, there were fears that the war in the Middle East would delay the recovery, but those fears have not materialised. Demand has strengthened and the cost increases resulting from the war are considered to be manageable. As a result, companies are taking a more optimistic view of future developments. This is revealed by the Riksbank’s Business Survey in August.

<a10:updated>2026-09-16T09:30:56+02:00</a10:updated>

Minutes of the monetary policy meeting on 19 August 2026

Minutes of the monetary policy meeting on 19 August 2026

<a10:updated>2026-08-25T09:30:41+02:00</a10:updated>

Policy rate unchanged at 1.75 per cent

During the summer, both growth and inflation have been higher than was forecast in June, and there is still a risk of underlying inflation becoming too high in the wake of the supply shocks in the Middle East. However, the picture is not clear-cut; for instance, companies’ pricing plans have been subdued, disruptions in global supply chains have declined and the labour market has been somewhat weaker than expected. Overall, the outlook for the economy remains largely unchanged. The Riksbank has decided to leave the policy rate unchanged at 1.75 per cent and assesses that the probability of a rate increase later this year remains. If the unexpectedly high inflation during the summer were to be the start of a larger and more lasting upturn in inflation, the Riksbank would adjust its monetary policy in a tighter direction.

<a10:updated>2026-08-20T09:30:34+02:00</a10:updated>

ESRB warns of vulnerabilities in the financial system linked to frontier AI models

The European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB), the EU’s macroprudential oversight authority, is issuing a formal warning regarding vulnerabilities in the financial system linked to frontier AI models. At the same time, the supply disruptions linked to the war in the Middle East have led to inflationary pressures rising and the risks of inflation becoming too high have increased. Before the war in the Middle East broke out, they felt that the economy was slowly improving. The war does not seem to have significantly affected this picture.
